Rob LaMar Edwards

Originally from San Jose, CA, Rob Edwards is an American drummer known for his dynamic style, deep musicality, and versatility across a wide range of music genres.

He began playing drums at the age of 3 and by age 6, was already performing at his local church. His first professional drumming experience came at 15, playing for gospel icon Dr. Mattie Moss Clark at the Prayer Garden Church's Singspiration Choir Day. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, Rob performed with several renowned gospel artists, including The Clark Sisters, Timothy Wright, Daryl Coley, Lawrence Matthews, Fred Hammond, and BeBe Winans.

Expanding his musical reach, Rob went on to perform with a variety of R&B, Country, Pop, Rock, Latin, and Blues bands, both locally and internationally.

 

Atlanta, GA
In 1995, Rob moved to Atlanta, where he performed with a range of emerging Jazz, R&B, neo-soul, and Hip-hop artists. During this time, he recorded with Grammy Award-winning artist Tony Rich on the Birdseye album. Rob also performed during the 1996 Olympics at the Olympic Village athletes’ party and the Mayor’s Ball at The Callanwolde Fine Arts Center with jazz artist Jody Mayfield.

 

Los Angeles, CA
In 2001, Rob relocated to Los Angeles and worked in the Guitar Center drum department while establishing himself as a sought-after session musician. His work led to performances with Leon Hughes, a member of the legendary 1950s groups The Coasters and The Drifters.

 

Reno, NV
In 2010, Rob moved to Reno, NV, where he worked in the casino entertainment industry with bands such as Chilli Sauce and Country Band & Days Gone. He also performed with the Red Hot Superstars Tribute Show, featuring impersonators of artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Carrie Underwood, and Lady Gaga.

 

Las Vegas, NV
In 2013, Rob relocated to Las Vegas, performing extensively with the premier R&B and Old School show band In-A-Fect, touring the casino circuit from Las Vegas and California to Detroit, Michigan.

 

Return to Los Angeles
Rob is currently based in the Los Angeles area, where he continues to work as a session musician while developing and promoting his clothing brand, GRUV Musicwear.
